What Can Help Us Balance Fukushima's Radiation?

THANK YOU KABC
Now that the mainstream U.S. media is reporting on Fukushima,
maybe now we can get something constructive done!
Let's entomb the plant in hemp concrete/plastic, lead and tungten,
phytoremediate the soil with hemp and mushrooms,
shift to clean, safe and free energies,
use medical marijuana & radiation healing diet to save ourselves!

In order to continue life on earth, We The People must save ourselves.  The United Nations and the United States government have made it illegal or expensive to use common sense to fight the effects of our crisis from this nuclear holocaust.  It’s time to take our power back. TEPCO nor Japan can do it alone.

Radiation from Fukushima’s triple nuclear meltdown is an extinction level event that requires us to work together.  We must focus our efforts and implement solutions to save our lives from the 300 tons a day of radioactive water daily that's been flowing into the Pacific Ocean since the disaster happened on March 11, 2011.

I understand that President Barack Obama is a lawyer whose lips are moving.  So many lies we have to overcome…like folks can keep their doctor and/or health care plans, BP oil spill really being an oil gusher with the chemicals they used to make the oil 'disappear' more toxic than the crude, and of course Fukushima.

The initial research regarding how to use hemp to help fix Fukushima is posted on the on another blog post How To Fix Fukushima.  It includes information on using hemp building materials to entomb the plant, using 3D/4D printers and shielded robots to build the sarcophagus, medical marijuana for the cancers and other illnesses that come from increased, chronic radiation exposure, hemp foods to help fortify our bodies, hydrotherapy, etc.

Hemp is only part of the solution.

I recently read about  holy basil:

“Modern Uses

There has been a significant amount of both animal studies and human clinical research on the benefits of holy basil. Today, we know this versatile plant is an adaptogen with antioxidant, neuroprotective, stress reducing, and radioprotective (protects against the damaging effects of ionizing radiation) effects.

In animal studies, pre-treatment with methanol extracts of holy basil reduced brain damage caused by reduced cerebral circulation. Alcohol extracts of this herb showed significant anti-stress activities in mice exposed to acute and chronic noise stress. Use of holy basil prevented increased corticosterone levels that indicate elevated stress levels. A water extract of holy basil protected mice against radiation damage to the liver and chromosome damage to the cells. It prevented this damage by reducing hepatic lipid perioxidation and increasing the presence of two powerful cellular antioxidants: superoxide dimutase and superoxide catalase.”

In addition to hemp foods, I have learned from the social media activist Lucy Occupy that there is a science of many foods we can eat, things we can do, to help protect ourselves from health effects from the radiation.

The dangers we are in as a result of Fukushima are fixable.  We just need the will to do it. Expanding the markets for nutritional vitamins and minerals plus the green leafy vegetable hemp foods, hemp oils has my soul screaming with joy at the biblical verse Luke 1:37 KJV “For with God nothing shall be impossible” and A Course In Miracles, Workbook, Lesson 48, “There is nothing to fear.”  "Strike a pose, let’s get to it!"

My friends and I are still reviewing and sorting so there will be updated posts, yet, with a crisis this big, it is imperative we share information quickly.

Please visit the links in this article and web pages below for many more ideas than listed here. The quotes below are provided as an example of the information available rather than all this research being completed.  It seems for every answer there are at least 10 new questions.

I agree with most of what's below via cross referencing except for one thing. I do not agree that it is good to eat anything from the ocean for now, yet I have no means to test what's in the ocean at this time. There is so much more than what’s quoted here.

I have always believed that information is power and with the Lord's Help, we can fix Fukushima.  This event is a turning point where we stop stupid once and for all as we work together.  We are all responsible for life at least seven generations ahead.  We must stop what we are doing and make sure we fortify our bodies and environment to deal with the excess radiation coming off of Fukushima and other environmental disasters.  Looking forward to your thoughts.

“(NaturalNews) Marijuana offers strong protective qualities against radiation exposure. Since fewer and fewer people have the financial resources to continually purchase all the helpful things they will need perhaps growing weed in our backyard will offer the public one of the best anti-radiation solutions in the long run. Instead of it being just relaxing it might become very necessary to intake marijuana to increase ones defenses against radiation exposure. Might as well get your brownies ready but one has to be careful about radiation getting into everything, even your marijuana plants, which will actually thrive nicely in radioactive environments.”

Radiation Exposure common sense strategies for minimizing the damage to your health

When we think of the damaging effects caused by exposure to chemicals and or radiation, we typically limit our focus to the toxin itself, and rarely consider the person’s nutritional or health status as a determining factor in the outcome.  Similarly, when we examine the germ theory (that presently dominates the medical-pharmaceutical mind set, and is responsible for the heavy emphasis on vaccines and antibiotics), we see the same limited thinking.   If one just focuses on “the germ”, but not much consideration is given to the health or nutritional status of the host, we are missing a big piece of the puzzle…  Luckily, what many savvy individuals are realizing is the simple fact that the person with the stronger nutritional status fares much better when exposed to a germ, chemical toxins, or radiation then someone who is in a weekend or poorly nourished state.

Martha Herbert, MD, PhD a professor at Harvard’s medical school and pediatric neurologist once remarked “  The quality of one’s nutritional status determines one’s ability to detoxify”.    In other words, the healthier you are prior to exposure, the better the chances your body has of detoxifying or getting rid of the damaging germ, chemical or radioactive material and the less chance you have  of experiencing long term damage or illness as a result of that exposure.”

“Vitamins and Minerals:

Iodine- the most common mineral has been a known to help fight radiation poisoning but must be taken in small quantities. Most people get their iodine from iodine enriched salt or a multi-vitamin.

Potassium Iodide or KI- This can protect the thyroid gland by saturating the thyroid with iodide so it cannot absorb radioactive iodine.  The RDA’s according the FDA general guidelines are, adults and lactating women a full therapeutic dose is 130 mcg.  Children over 12-18 yrs. 65 mcg.  Children ages 3-12 32 mcg.  Birth to one month 16 mcg.  By saturating the thyroid gland it is protected up to one month., which is long enough for the radioactive iodine (which has a half life of 8 days) to disappear from the environment.  Without the potassium iodide taken in advance of an attack to saturate the thyroid, its protective effect lasts about 24 hours! You should have tablets on hand.

Beta-1,3 Glucan:  Extracted from baker’s yeast it is a potent immune enhancer. It activates important macrophages and is also an anti oxidant.  Studies from the US Army showed glucan is a powerful protectant against radiation.

Polyamines:  The free radicals generated by ultraviolet rays or ionizing radiation can attack cellular lipids, proteins and DNA. Endogenous free radical scavengers such as glutathione and the polyamine can inhibit the action of these radicals.

Melatonin:  It is suggested that supplementing cancer patients with therapy of melatonin may have some benefit for successful radiotherapy.

VITAMIN C:  This may be one of the most important vitamins of all to have on hand, not only can vitamin C protect against radiation but it can also repair damage from previous exposure. Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa, M.D., Ph.D., conducted a study which found that workers who took a high-dose of intravenous vitamin C (25,000 mg) prior to handling radioactive debris during the Fukushima cleanups were protected against DNA damage and cancer. To learn more about this amazing vitamin check out the book “Curing the Incurable: Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases, and Toxins” by Thomas Levy, MD.

Added to the list of vitamins are Calcium and Magnesium, Vitamins A-F and Inositol in Lecithin which helps with all kinds of radiation

Foods:

Bee Pollen - shown to significantly reduce the usual side effects of both radium and cobalt-60 radiotherapy and also the sickness after massive abdominal x-rays.

Beets: Beets have been shown to rebuild hemoglobin of the blood after radiation exposure

Fermented Foods: Due to their multiple beneficial effect on the intestines, fermented foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, pickled beets and cucumbers and kefir help to counteract the toxins from radioactive fallout.

Sea vegetables like kelp.

Onions: Cysteine, present in onions, binds with and deactivates toxic metals such as lead and mercury and the radioactive isotopes they both contain. The sulfur in cysteine helps the kidneys and liver detoxify the body. Cysteine is what makes you cry when you cut an onion.

Edible unprocessed oils like peanut and olive oils.

Foods rich in Pectin like apples, both green and black teas, drinking distilled water with a pinch of sea salt added with give you the trace minerals needed to help keep you healthy.

Sea Salt & Baking Soda & Clay - Add one pound of good quality sea salt and 1 pound of baking soda to chlorine-free water. Soak for 20 minutes and then rinse with cool water. Adding one pound of Betonite, or other safe clay, to the sea salt and baking soda will increase the removal of radiation. Some specialists who work with radioactive isotopes use this method to remove radiation from their body. For an abnormally high level of radiation exposure one can use this method three times a week for one month.

Herbs:

Chlorella - which is a type of single-celled green algae, is very high in chlorophyll, and has been shown to neutralize toxins in the body, often being used when someone has mercury poisoning. Taking recommended doses of chlorella when exposed to radiation even after a visit to the X-ray machine is a good way to speed up the detoxification.

Chicory - is a very safe, very mild tonic. As a blood cleanser it has laxative and diuretic properties, but it is especially associated with protecting the liver from excessive caffeine consumption. It also is used to increase bile flow, decrease inflammations, aid in jaundice and lower cholesterol and blood sugar.

Clary Sage - is also a cleansing herb tonic.

Burdock Root - a common herb that contains anti tumor properties, it can also reduce cell mutation.

Yellow Dock - Yellow dock is one of the best cleansing. It is a detoxifer and also contains rumicin, a liver decongestant. Since liver disorders are often related to skin problems, it is effective in treating skin discolorations related to liver disease. It stimulates the liver to produce bile and strengthens the colon.

Dandelion Greens - This weed is high in beta carotene, iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc and magnesium, as well as vitamins B,D,C,and E. Dandelion strengthens the whole system as well as the liver and gallbladder. Dandelion promotes the flow of bile, reduces inflammation of the bile duct and helps eliminate gallstones. Dandelion adsorbs toxins from the body, regulating intestinal bacteria and could prevent cancer.

Fennel - helps to inhibit kidney stones, and clears the liver and lungs.

Licorice Root - Licorice root is a very good detoxifier and also aids in urinary and bowel disorders, and reduces arthritis inflammation by ridding the body of toxins. Licorice root protects the liver from such diseases as cirrhosis and hepatitis; reduces cancer tumors and can even kill off HIV cells before they turn into full blown AIDS.

Milk Thistle – if you are a heavy user of alcohol; take pharmaceutical drugs; are a cancer patient undergoing chemo, milk thistle is an herb worth considering.”

Lactobacillus Probiotics, the healthy bacteria found in yoghurt and other fermented foods protect the lining of the digestive tract from damage due to radiation therapy.  Studies show that when healthy bacteria are taken orally BEFORE radiation therapy, there is actually less damage to the delicate lining of the intestines, less side effects for cancer patients.

When the lining of the intestines, which only one cell layer thick,  is damaged by radiation, inflammation occurs.  This is officially called “radiation enteritis” (literally inflamed intestines). The most common symptom is diarrhea, although there can also be pain, bloating, cramping, excess mucus and even bleeding.  Not only is this an uncomfortable cancer treatment side effect, but this also leads to poor absorption of nutrients so important to health and healing and normal immune function.  Additionally there may be a loss of fluids and essential minerals such as potassium that can further compromise normal  digestion and elimination.  Many patients with this side effect feel quite weak and lethargic and become averse to eating because it is so uncomfortable to put food into a reactive and  inflamed  digestive tract.

There have been several studies showing that not only do probiotics given in advance of treatment exert a protective function, meaning there is less damage overall, but these healthy bacteria can also promote the repair of the delicate lining during and after radiation.  The presence of healthy bacteria regulates the normal immune response in your gut.”

“A balanced body can heal itself … but it needs your help. It’s important to pay close attention to the foods and dietary supplements you consume. Here’s why.

Diet and your body’s susceptibility to radiation are closely entwined. Radiation and pollutants destroy vitamins A, C, E, K several N vitamins, essential fatty acids, calcium and neuro-hormones. If your body lacks calcium. Potassium and other nutrients, it will more readily absorb the radioactive elements that are similar in structure to these nutrients.

Your best bet is to eat natural, fresh, organic (as much as possible) unprocessed foods, avoiding, white sugar, red meat, refined wheat, caffeine and homogenized milk. Here is a list of widely recommended foods and food supplements that can help to balance your body chemistry. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it will give you a good starting place.”

[Followed by a good list of nutrients and foods]

“These foods and food substances will enhance the immune system and protect against the dangerous side effects of radiation.” –Dr. Steven R. Schechter.

The time to implement these foods is now in order to build up the body as well as the immune system. Most of the foods and vitamins/minerals are “protective” meaning that they should be ‘implemented’ before a radiation event occurs.

Each of these can be researched individually on the Internet such as “bee pollen+nuclear radiation protection”, etc. in order to find out how it is helpful/useful to the body,”

“Question: With clouds of radiation drifting eastward from the nuclear disaster in Japan, how can we protect ourselves holistically from radiation sickness?

Answer: Many people have asked me what, if anything, they should do to prepare for the possibility of increased radiation exposure. Here are my suggestions, based on my understanding of the research on preventing and treating radiation sickness. For this article, I want to thank the many people who have written to me to help me sort out the voluminous research on this subject.

First, because there is no clear evidence of current danger that I know of, we should do now only what is safe, inexpensive and otherwise healthy. This includes our nourishing traditional or GAPS diet, with liberal amounts of good fats, broth, lacto-fermented vegetables and greens. Special foods that have been shown to counteract radiation sickness include naturally fermented miso, beets, kombucha and sea vegetables, such as kombu.

Fermented cod liver oil at a minimum dose of 1/2 teaspoon or 2 capsules is important. Next, detoxifying baths with a cup of Epsom salts every couple of days is an inexpensive aid to boosting magnesium levels, relaxing muscles, and aiding the elimination channels.

As for medicines, at this point I recommend the safest and most proven aids in radiation exposure, which are vitamin C in the form of the highly absorbable liposomal C; the herb eleutherococcus, otherwise known as Siberian ginseng; and a seaweed called modifilan, a brown seaweed that is rich in a chemical called fucoidan, which studies have shown has great promise in combating radiation exposure. This seaweed contains liberal amounts of iodine, so the more toxic potassium iodide need not be taken at this point.”

“Tips for Protection from Radiation Exposure
Dr. Tom Cowan MD, author of Fourfold Path to Healing, described the following as wise steps in this regard in a recent email newsletter:

  • Make sure to include special foods in the diet that have been shown to counteract radiation sickness. These foods include naturally fermented miso, beets, kombucha, and sea vegetables such as kombu.
  • Detoxifying baths with a cup of Epsom salts every couple of days is an inexpensive aid to boosting magnesium levels, relaxing muscles, and aiding the elimination channels.
As for medicines, Dr. Cowan recommends the safest and most proven aids in radiation exposure,
  • Vitamin C in the form of the highly absorbable liposomal C (1 tsp a day in any liquid, half that dose for children younger than 5)
  • The herb eleutherococcus, otherwise known as Siberian ginseng (one tablet twice a day for adults, half that dose for children younger than 5.  For children unable to swallow pills, the tablets can be dissolved in hot water and mixed with any liquid.  For tinctures use as directed on labels and half dose for children).
  • A seaweed called modifilan, a brown seaweed that is rich in a chemical called fucoidan, which studies have shown has great promise in combating radiation exposure.  This seaweed has liberal amounts of iodine, so the more toxic potassium iodine need not be taken at this point (3 capsules twice a day for adults, one capsule twice a day for children younger than 5.  It can be mixed with any soft food, like applesauce).

Dr. Cowan suggests caution with regard to potassium iodide:

As for potassium iodine, this is a much more aggressive measure, and many people will have some trouble with the high doses that are suggested.  But, if public health authorities say it’s time, then it should be used – but only then.

In that case, the dose is 130 mg of KI for adults and women who are breastfeeding, 65 mg for young people ages 3 and 18, children who are adult size take the adult dose, and infants and children between 1 month and 2 years should take 32 mg, newborns to infants 1 month old should take 16 mg.

The best source for potassium iodide is from your local pharmacy or by ordering Iodoral online.

“The Radiation Protection Foods and Supplements
There are some foods that can help your body resist radiation and its effects. These include the following:
  • Wheatgrass and barley grass are some of the best sources of nutrients around and a major source of enzymes which can strengthen the body and help fight cancer. Drinking a glass of these a day can protect you from radiation. A big advantage to these healthy foods is that you can grow them yourself at home.
  • Chlorella/Blue Green Algae is extremely rich in chlorophyll which is necessary to fight radiation. It is also rich in a wide variety of vitamins and is a very good source of magnesium and calcium.
  • Miso, the traditional Japanese food, is a tremendous source of protein. It also aids digestion. Survivors of the World War II atomic bomb attacks at Hiroshima and Nagasaki who regularly consumed Miso did not die from radiation induced cancer.
  • Fermented vegetables and juices. This would include apple cider vinegar and fermented cod liver oil. These are very good for digestive disorders and can stop cancer and arthritis. Applying raw apple cider topically will actually pull radiation and heavy metals right out of your body. You can do this through adding raw organic apple cider vinegar to your baths or using shampooing your scalp regularly through Morrocco Method’s Fire Shampoo.
  • Yogurt, especially Greek yogurt with natural cultures, is a natural antibiotic. It replenishes the good bacteria in your colon and can synthesize germ-destroying antibodies in your colon.
  • Wild Yams are a great source of DHEA.
  • Dark green vegetables including kale, collard greens, mustard greens, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, turnips, spinach and cauliflower.  These contain substances that inhibit the growth of breast colon cancer. They also contain many vitamins and minerals and dithiolthiones compounds that have antioxidant, anticancer and anti-radiation capabilities.
  • Sea vegetables including kelp because they are rich in iodine and can detoxify the body. This could be the secret ingredient in miso which is often made from seaweed.
  • Sesame Seeds contain complex T which strengthens the blood.
  • Fish oils such as fermented cod liver oil are tremendous sources of protein and omega-3 fatty acids which can improve immune system health. Salmon is a good source of these oils but make sure it’s not pacific salmon for obvious reasons. Wild atlantic salmon or lake trout is a much safer bet.”

“Dangers of Radiation Exposure

Radioactive isotope particles, including Iodine-131, Cesium-134, Strontium-90 and others which are present in radioactive fallout, can be inhaled, ingested through radiation-contaminated food and water, and/or deposited onto the skin. Radioactive particles are particularly damaging to DNA, and can easily cause mutations which eventually lead to cancer, birth defects, cardiovascular disease and other life threatening health problems.

There are many short term health effects caused by significant exposure as well. Acutely, radioactive isotopes are most damaging to rapidly dividing cells such as those in the intestinal lining, bone marrow, hair and skin, and can cause severe gastrointestinal problems, skin problems, loss of immune and blood cells, hair loss, fatigue, and central nervous damage soon after exposure, depending on the severity. Children are at the highest risk because their cells divide more rapidly than adults.

It is our hope and prayer that an acute level of exposure, such as what happened with the Chernobyl meltdown, does not occur again in the world. But as Japan’s crisis has pointed out so gravely, we unfortunately live in a nuclear age and therefore need to be prepared to protect ourselves from the related risks if we are going to continue to use this volatile and dangerous source of energy.

As a doctor and researcher, I have always been deeply concerned about the health effects of living with nuclear energy. In fact, it was the tragedy of Chernobyl and the subsequent use of pectins to reduce radioactive levels in child victims of this disaster which prompted my original research into the use of modified citrus pectin to chelate radioactive particles and heavy metals.

For more information and research regarding chelation and detox, download a copy of my complementary chelation guide here.

What should I do right now?

At this point, it is difficult to know exactly how much radiation we may be exposed to here in North America as a result of Japan’s nuclear crisis. Self-medicating with ongoing high doses of potassium iodine is strongly discouraged because of the negative health effects this supplement can have on thyroid and overall health. As mentioned in the protection protocols below, high dose potassium iodine is only helpful if exposure to a large amount of radiation is imminent and the supplement can be taken 24 hours prior to exposure.

In the mean time, I recommend a chelation and detox protocol outlined below, which is designed to remove heavy metals, toxins and radioactive particles from the body. This is the same chelation protocol that I prescribe during a Spring Cleanse, and since spring is right around the corner, this is a timely opportunity to be proactive and incorporate these recommendations which will also help protect you from any potential exposure to radiation.”

“To Combat the Negative Effects of Radiation, We Can:

1. Stop pretending that toxicity in the environment is a shocking, new thing.

Whether it be contaminated water leaking into the precious ocean, poisonous pesticides being sprayed on our crops, mounting plastic in our landfills, or genetically modified organisms creating tomatoes that can bounce off trucks – it’s unfortunately not a new thing.

First step, as they say, is admitting there is a problem. Then, commit to being part of the solution.

2. Realise that our daily choices DO directly affect the health of our planet and ourselves.

There are many ways that we can lessen our impact. Here in Japan, there is a plastic fetish. There is almost nothing you can buy that is not wrapped in the stuff. So I do my best by shopping at the farmer’s market and bringing my own cloth bags. Sometimes a tomato gets squished, but it just reassures me that it’s real. Buying less, reusing more, growing our own food and supporting those that do, cooking at home and riding our bikes are all very realistic, empowering and proactive choices that we can make. They do make a difference.

Realising that all our actions have a cyclical effect will encourage us to do whatever we can with the resources that we have. There is no use dwelling on that which we bear no direct impact over (eliminating radiation levels). However, we can participate in cleaning up our own backyards and making our communities greener.

3. Eat More Miso

Miso is a traditional Japanese paste made from from fermented soybeans, rice, barley or a combination thereof. When prepared in a traditional manner from organic ingredients, miso is a delicious condiment most commonly enjoyed in a soup. However it can be put into sauces, salad dressing or used sparingly as a dip with raw veggies. Miso’s chelating ability allows it to counteract the negative effects of radiation and free radical formation in the body. You can buy good quality miso in the refrigerated section of your health food store, or have fun learning to make your own.

4. Participate in a cleanse, twice a year

For more information on the health benefits of detoxing, read my article here  http://marapanacci.com/10-benefits-of-regular-detox/. Fine tuning our health and regularly clearing out bodies helps to keep us strong and better able to filter out what comes our way.

5. Drink mint tea

Studies show that herbs can exhibit radio-protective effects, and mint is one of them! This herb is super simple to grow potted in your own home and can be used on salads, in sauces and as a tea. Simply fill a quart mason jar with fresh leaves and pour boiling water over them. Cover with a lid and let steep anywhere from 10 minutes to overnight. Enjoy this refreshing tea warm or cold the next day!

6. Take epsom salt baths

Detoxifying baths with one cup of epsom salts every few days is an effective way to boost magnesium levels and encourage the elimination channels of the body. It also relaxes muscles and provides an opportunity to de-stress – an important part of any immune boosting, radiation fighting plan.

7. Eat fermented foods

Fermented foods have been a regular addition to traditional diets around the world for centuries. Traditionally prepared miso, kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi and various vegetables (to name just a few) contain probiotics that help keep our guts healthy and functioning optimally. Healthy bacteria in our system helps fight bad bacteria, aids in the absorption of nutrients and helps in the manufacturing of hormones. Fermenting your own foods is easy and affordable once you get the hang of it. Check out what I consider to be the cultured ‘bible’ for more information http://www.wildfermentation.com

“What is the mechanism of radiation poisoning?
  • Ionizing radiation destroys tissue by causing free radicals to form
  • Antioxidants prevent the free radical destruction by neutralizing them before they can cause pain and swelling and autoimmune and chronic degenerative diseases such as cancer
  • Antioxidants are depleted when there is free radical stress, which causes a deficit in our cells' ability to repair cellular damage
  • Thus, it is critical to keep large amounts of antioxidants in our body
  • Remember that regular intense exercise is the best way to increase you antioxidant levels, so stay fit!
What foods can help protect us against radiation damage?
  • Foods rich in sulfur such as garlic, onions, ginger, brassica veggies, and eggs; they make glutathione, the most important intracellular antioxidant in the human body
  • Foods rich in ECGC that is found in green and white teas
  • Juicing is the most potent nutrition you can consume because it is nutrient dense and rich in antioxidants (especially berries)
  • Fermented foods that are rich in probiotics such as sauerkraut and yogurt
  • Sea vegetables that include seaweed salad, miso soup, water cress, and kim chi
What supplements does Dr. Saputo recommend?
  • Vitamin A 5000 IU per day plus beta carotene 25,000 IU per day
  • Vitamin E 800 IU per day
  • Vitamin D3 10,000 IU per day
  • Lipoic acid 100 mg per day
  • Vitamin C 2-3 grams three times a day (if you can tolerate more safely you can consider to bowel tolerance...check how to do this on the website)
  • Quercetin 1000 mg three times a day
  • Resveratrol 500 mg per day
  • Zinc 25 mg per day
  • Selenium 100 micrograms per day
  • Whey protein 30-50 grams per day
  • L-glutamine 3 grams three times a day
  • Probiotics twice a day
  • Iodine if exposed to I 131 (see below)
Do you need iodine and how much?
  • If you're exposed to iodine 131 it is good to take about 65 mg of iodine in the form of SSKI for adults and half that for kids. If exposure is prolonged it is important to supplement with one grain a day of desiccated thyroid as well”

[This article has a lot of information on various nutrients too and highly recommended.]

“Oxygen Therapy:  One tested oxygen therapy is Hyper baric Oxygen (HBO), although there are many other methods to introduce hyper oxygenation. This article is very good and well worth reading in full at http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/dental/hyperbaric.htm

There is also evidence to suggest that HBO may be helpful as a therapy for soft tissue injury caused by radiation, as well as restoring tissues and cells damaged by chemotherapy and radiation treatments. It has been in the field of treating osteoradionecrosis that hyperbaric oxygen therapy has seen some of its most dramatic successes.

When osteoradionecrosis develops, tissue destruction devolves into breakdown of overlying tissues and symptomatic destruction of bone. During this process, the response to antibiotics can be poor. In many cases, the situation can be improved with the use of HBO therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen has been shown to be more effective than penicillin.

If you can get past the tech talk here is some good info:

A potential link between cancer and restenosis radiotherapy in terms of radiosensitization may be derived from the fact that coronary smooth muscle cells as the presumed target cells for vascular brachytherapy are at least in part hypoxic. Several studies in the cancer literature have reported a benefit of radiosensitization with oxygen during ionizing radiation of hypoxic tumor cells.

Full article at American Heart Ass.:http://www.o-wm.com/article/5634

And, this is very impressive evidence that oxygen, when introduced properly, can attenuate the effects of radiation:

Radiation induced hemorrhagic cystitis that does not respond to standard regimens can be successfully treated with hyper baric oxygen. This modality is well tolerated even in patients debilitated by advanced cancer and blood loss. Long-term remission can be achieved in the majority of patients.

“First I would like to cover some of the Radioactive Elements and how the body tries to utilize them and what organs they affect the most.

Radioactive Elements
Organs Effected
Cesium – 137
Liver, Reproductive Organs, Muscles & Kidneys
Cobalt-60
 Liver and Reproductive Organs
Iodine – 131
Thyroid and Reproductive Organs
Plutonium – 238, 239
Lungs, Liver and Reproductive Organs
Strontium – 90
Bones
Sulfur– 35
Skin
Zinc – 65
Bones and Reproductive Organs

Understand that the above elements are closely related to substances that the body already needs and uses to function optimally.  For example, the body needs Calcium for bones, teeth and tissue but if something very similar is introduced to it such as Strontium-90, the body will attempt to utilize it as it would Calcium.  This is called “selective uptake”, the body tries to do the best it can with what it is given.  It will send the radioactive isotope Strontium-90 to the bones and teeth where it will store it for many years because it so similarly resembles Calcium on an atomic level.”

“Foods supplements recommended for radiation exposure:

Take extra iodine -- you can put  a splash of Lugol's solution on some area of skin and let it sink in on its own. When the stain goes away, add some more. There is some dispute over whether or not the Japanese radiation is based on iodine or not. Probably it is not, but you still need iodine. Your skin will let you know how much you need. If the iodine spread on your skin does not sink in after a day, you are not deficient.

Potassium -- is named after "pot ash", which is the ash left over after burning any kind of plant matter. If you have a fire that you know the wood that goes into it, take out the ash when it gets cool and find some way to consume it (see minerals).

You can take tablets of potassium iodide to get both potassium and iodine (Potassium plus Iodine).

Any kind of seaweed is a good source of balanced iodine with its natural companion minerals. Add kelp to any food you can.

Borax

Boron, the main component of Borax (laundry booster), is considered a "neutron absorber". Its use is recommended in damaged nuclear reactors to prevent runaway nuclear fission. The FDA says that consuming up to 1/4 teaspoon a day of Borax is safe. Do NOT use boric acid as a substitute.

Some other practices recommended for dealing with or preventing absorption of radiation:

Eat plenty of naturally fermented foods with lots of soil based probiotics.

Edible clay or other mixed minerals source.

Take gingko biloba.

Drink lots of water

Move in rhythmic motion (like swinging or rocking in a rocking chair) to keep fluids moving around (think of a washing machine).

Eat miso and/or miso soup. This has been reported as one of the main factors sited as to who did or did not succumb to radiation sickness among the medical personnel treating victims of the atomic bombing of Japanese cites during WW2. Besides miso, the diet used by Dr. Akizuki to treat staff and patients also included brown rice, soy sauce.seaweed and sea salt, and eliminating sugar and refined carbohydrates.

Eat green vegetables, especially mustard greens, broccoli, cabbage and other crucifers.”

“PRINCIPLES OF DIETARY PROTECTION FROM RADIATION

THE POPULATION GROUPS that are most susceptible to radiation poisoning are those in poor health, fetuses, infants, young children, and older people. The older people are more affected because their immune systems are often weaker and because of a preexisting accumulation of radiation exposure throughout their lives. Whether one is in a susceptible group or even in optimal health, the ability to minimize the effects of radiation can be greatly enhanced by a healthy diet and lifestyle and the inclusion of special foods in the diet known to maximize protection from all forms of nuclear radiation. We have already discussed extensively the meaning of a healthy diet, so now we will explore the use of foods and herbs that specifically minimize the effect of radiation.

The anti-radiation diet is built on four principles: selective uptake; chelation; antioxidants and enzymes; and specific foods and herbs.

The first is the principle of selective uptake, which essentially means that if one has enough minerals in the system, the cells become saturated with minerals. Once cellular mineral saturation occurs, there is less opportunity for the radioactive minerals to be absorbed into the system. For example, with such minerals as calcium or iodine, if there is sufficient natural calcium, or iodine in the system, the body will not tend to absorb additional strontium-90, which is a close equivalent to calcium or iodine-131. If the normal mineral levels are low, then strontium-90 and iodine-131 will be more easily absorbed. When any of these radioactive minerals are absorbed into a particular tissue, they immediately begin to irradiate the surrounding cells and tissues. Each element is attracted to the organs in which it is normally utilized. The main radioactive minerals and the organs they specifically target - and therefore irradiate-can be seen on the chart on page 606. Also listed are the healthy minerals that inhibit this cellular damage by the principle of selective uptake.

The second main concept in protection against radiation exposure is that of chelation. This means there are certain foods that will actively draw the radioactive materials to them and pull them out of the body via the bowel excretion process.

The third concept is to keep the body high in antioxidant nutrients and enzymes, which will nullify the free radicals created by the radiation exposure.

The fourth concept is that there are certain foods and herbs that specifically protect against the overall effects of radiation or radiation treatments.

There are other ways to protect against radiation exposure. Research published in the International Journal of Radiation Biology in 1980 indicated that the pH of the cellular fluid could influence the cell's response to radiation. Diet for the Atomic Age, by Sara Shannon, says that many studies have suggested that a slightly alkaline to middle range of body pH enhances the resistance to radiation."

Check out on this link the section “Ideas to Protect Yourself from Harmful Radiation

by John Kozinski – below are some recipes from this special report.

“Here are a Few Easy Recipes

Kombu in dried beans—Soak and cook kombu with beans. Use 1 to 2 inches kombu per cup of beans; soak and cook as regular. Kombu can be mashed into beans before eating.

Miso soup with kombu—Use 1 inch kombu per 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and remove kombu (you can save kombu for another batch of soup or use in beans). Add ¼ cup diced vegetables (onion, carrot, broccoli, cabbage, scallion) and/or tofu, and bring to a boil. Simmer 2 to 3 minutes until vegetables are tender. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of miso in broth and heat without bringing to boil.

Miso soup with wakame—Soak 1 tablespoon of wakame in 1 cup of water for 5 minutes. Cut wakame into bite-size pieces. Then, bring wakame and water to boil and simmer 4 to 5 minutes. Add ¼ cup diced vegetables and/or tofu, bring to a boil, and simmer 2 to 3 minutes. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of miso in broth and heat without bringing to boil.

Miso tea—Use 1 inch kombu per 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and remove kombu. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of miso in this kombu stock and heat without bringing to boil.

Umeboshi tea—Bring 1 medium umeboshi plum in 1 cup water to boil. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes. Season with a few drops of soy sauce and/or lemon juice or ginger juice. “

“Cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, turnips, cabbage, spinach, cauliflower, and greens such as kale – research note hemp is a green leafy vegetable)

This family of vegetables contain substances that inhibit breast and colon cancer cell growth. Cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables also contain dithiolthiones, a non-toxic group of compounds that have antioxidant, anti-cancer and anti-radiation properties.

Sources include dark, leafy vegetables (broccoli, spinach, kale, Swiss chard, romaine, endive, chicory, escarole, watercress, collard, mustard and dandelion greens), dark yellow and orange vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, yams, pumpkins, winter squash) and fruits (cantaloupe, apricots, peaches, papayas and watermelon).

High-fiber foods: whole grains, fruits and vegetables

Epidemiological data suggests that a high-fiber diet protects against large bowel cancer perhaps for several reasons. It dilutes bowel carcinogens, decreases colon transit time and changes the composition and metabolic activity of the fecal flora and certain carcinogenic substances in the colon. That’s why it’s healthier to eat whole grains containing the bran and the fiber, and whole fruits and vegetables instead of their processed, partitioned counterparts.”

“Put More Cancer-Blocking Foods on the Table

Radiation causes cancer by creating free radical molecules that damage DNA. So it makes sense to eat more foods and supplements that are rich in antioxidants these days — and research backs this up.

Choose foods loaded with the antioxidants vitamin C (papaya, kale, red bell peppers, broccoli, strawberries and kiwis), vitamin E (sunflower seeds, almonds, olives and spinach) and selenium (Brazil nuts, salmon, shrimp and turkey, and brown rice).

All of these are cancer-blocking heavyweights. And it’s easy to identify them. Just let your eyes guide you: Fresh, brightly-colored foods tend to be antioxidant treasures.

You also should consume more whole grains, especially brown rice. Whole grains are rich in fiber, phosphorus, antioxidants and selenium, all of which help escort toxins from the body.

And don’t forget rosemary. Spanish researchers published research in the British Journal of Radiology demonstrating that nothing fights the free radicals created by radiation like this aromatic herb. Since rosemary’s essential antioxidants are fat-soluble, they provide critical protection in areas water-based antioxidants can’t reach.

Other supplements that may be protective against radiation damage are vitamin D and vitamin K. Both support cell apoptosis, which is the programmed death of cells that accumulate various DNA errors (due to radiation and other causes). Vitamin D also supports DNA repair.”

Protein and fats from grass fed animals and wild fish can also help support the heavy metal detox necessary to remove radioactive heavy metals from our system. Protein from meat, poultry, fish and egg yolks contain sulfur-containing amino acids and zinc, necessary for detoxification. Taurine from animal foods helps the body excrete toxic metals via the bile. Pantothenic acid (B5) in animal protein supports the liver detox. In addition, a low fat diet should be avoided, because the body uses fats to transport heavy metals which are then excreted via bile.

Magnificent Magnesium

Magnesium is important for detoxification and it is necessary for the synthesis of glutathione. The consumption of refined carbohydrates strips the body of magnesium. Therefore eliminate refined sugar and white flour from your diet and other processed foods, and provide the body extra magnesium. Epsom salts in bath water is a nice way to top up the body with magnesium to aid detoxification.”

At approximately 1:35 the narrator of this piece explains that ‘getting bombed’ is one way they are able to survive the radiation, like the firefighters and priests did in Japan during WWII bombing. Hemp smoking/vaporizing relaxes the body too!

1:30 Where are we going – Chernobyl -  We’re in Chernobyl which was apparently 600 times worse than Hiroshima.  The only guys that survived there were the firemen because they were bombed when they were putting out the fires.   Same as the doctors in Hiroshima.  They lived because they got drunk.  So that’s what we’ve been doing.”

Could the calming effect of hemp have the same result because it relaxes the body too?

Anything you can think of to add that helps make the case let me know over the weekend.

This research would not have been possible without the friendship and support of the Richard M. Davis, USA Hemp Museum, Casper Leitch's Time4Hemp Broadcast Network, Paul Stanford and his THCF Clinics, Brad Irvin’s Hippie Butter Hemp Foods, Johannes Bjarmarsson, David Crockett Williams, Dr. Joel Wallach’s book Dead Doctor’s Don’t Lie and his Youngevity product line, Sherwood Akuna, Dr. Jeri Rose, Chris Conrad, Ed Rosenthal, Jeanette Perez, Paul Benheim, Rhonda Cobb, Patrick Moore, Chef Ashbell McElveen, Lee Reisch, R. W. Alike, Bob Manke, Granger Devill's Greg Null, Holly Wood Dragon, Leslie Shapiro, Dana Beal, Luke Scarmazzo, of course the late Jack Herer, Michelle Rainey Captain Ed, Sister Somayah Kambui, Jim Rosenfeld, Gatewood Galbraith, Peter McWilliams and many others living and beyond living too.

One more thing. To effectively solve this problem it is imperative that we STOP THE WAR ON DRUGS and FREE ALL DRUG WAR PRISONERS NOW!  ALL HANDS ARE NEEDED ON DECK!
